The NOVA laser was developed and built at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. The extraordinary power of the NOVA laser reached 1.0 × 1014 watts (100 terawatts). One arm of the NOVA laser was converted to produce an astounding 1.3 quadrillion watts (1.3 petawatts) of peak power. Up until the completion of the next inertial confinement fusion reactor laser in 2008, the NOVA laser will keep its record of being the world’s most powerful laser. Inertial confinement fusion is a process during which a target is ignited by laser beams and the resultant heat blow-off causes the target to implode and the fuel inside to fuse, producing much more energy than went into the reaction. The NOVA laser was capable of creating what was basically a miniature star!

Although the “stars” created by the NOVA laser lasted less than a billionth of a second, it brought us closer to discovering an inexhaustible source of fuel – if not fusion, then perhaps something else. We would never get there however without experimentation, exploration and discovery.

NOVAlasers brings you the tools and equipment for your own journey of discovery. Every NOVAlaser opens up a world of experimentation and exploration. We strive to provide both the highest quality laser equipment and the best developed accessories and experimentation tools. With our comprehensive line of lasers, NOVAlasers brings you the high power that you need.

NOVAlasers began with a desire to make laser experimentation affordable to hobbyists of any level. We do all that we can to bring you nothing but the best at the best price. Welcome to your first step in re-discovering your world!
